In the mail

I've added this photo so you can see it "correctly" even though the lighting wasn't great on it. Click to enlarge.

It rotated it again, I've tried deleting it and reloading several times and nothing seems to make it show up properly. Wish I knew why it was doing that and/or how to stop it.

Anyway, here's the finished project. I trimmed the fabric down, ironed around the beads to pellex and ironed the framing fabric on the back. Lots of measuring and trimming and I still didn't get it all even, folded the fabric over to make the edges and used double sided pellon webbing to create the frame around the horse. I suck at corners and didn't like the clunky look of them so I added the little shell circles at the corners, stitched on and then snuck a little E-6000 under them with the toothpick to set them more firmly. Not bad for a first effort I think and especially with being rushed to finish it to get it in the mail.

I almost wish I would have kept it as I am proud of how this "first" turned out, that little white fall leaves appaloosa and I became friends of sorts. I hope the person I made her for loves her as much as I discovered I loved beading her. I'm not going to point out all the things I wish I would have done better or parts I would change if I "only knew then what I know now", cause really... it turned out better than I expected even though it wasn't what I had pictured when I started. Some how the pictures don't really do justice to the reality of it. I'm kinda proud of me and when I stopped to really see it before I wrapped it in xmas paper... I was kinda surprised I had made something so... well... surprised I had made it that pretty I guess.

Thank you, Carol!

I'm kind of torn on the outlining now, in a few cases it got in my way... then in a few spots I decided to outline first again and it actually helped. Trial and error I suppose :)

This is beautiful! Seeing it inspired me to upload a pic of the holiday cards that I sent this year:
http://beadmask.blogspot.com/2010/01/bead-embroidered-holiday-card.html . I found it so interesting that while our pieces are obviously quite different, they were probably made around the same time, and they also share many similarities ... white animals, bead embroidered with circular lines, and also the similar style fabric borders. Just a coincidence I thought was kinda neat :)

Also, I remember your comment on a BJP post that I made quite awhile ago. I'm really glad to see that you decided to join the project this year! I hope it's a wonderful experience for you.
