While it has been quiet here on the blog, it's not been quiet in the house!!
Get a cup of coffee or hot tea, it's a long one :)
Here's some things I've been busy with...
Got my first blank block in the CQ RR and stitched my 1/4th section and mailed it on to Anna for her to play with. After getting over the initial OMG it's some one else's blank block what-am-I-gonna-do?!...I really had fun stitching. I added all the embroidery stitching and "silkie" on the lower left corner/bottom. I can't wait to see what the other three ladies add to it!

A little closer look

I also was working on teaching myself a new stitch, the bullion stitch, and tried to make bullion roses on a project I was working on. This was a challenge to myself... to work with colors I don't normally use, to put a little frou frou in it, and learning the new stitch.

I took one day and did nothing but come up with outlines and sitting down at the sewing machine to sew forms. After that there were a few days of stuffing and hand sewing the seam closed. Unfortunately I had some back tracking in there as I discovered some the things I was working on were a bit too big, so I had to go back to the drawing board and start over.

Then I made faces... one day for the molding and baking, then several days to paint and seal.

What a hodge podge group I have going there!

Last but not least, I finally settled on a size and format for my Bead Journal Project 2011. I really like the one piece in sections Tracey at A Beadiful Mess is working on for the BJP 2010. So I came up with a single format with 12 individual sections, one for each month. The finished size will be 9" X 12" framed, each monthly section is 3" X 3". I wanted a more do-able size this year and a lot more flexible journaling process for the months. I am looking forward to seeing what develops with intuitive beading on this piece!

The orange-yellow spots really aren't quite that vivid, but I wanted something fun to look at while beading. Kinda scary isn't it?? Oh well... it's bright and it makes me laugh when I look at it. Happy beading to you all!!

oh my, but you have been a very busy girl! I love it all...
Its all great, but I gotta tell you the tree doll really grabs me. I just love her. (and if she's not a tree, well she'll always be a tree to me!)
The fabric for the BJP is awesome. Bright and colorful.
Your faces are great. Its so cool that you fill your time so well!!
you sure have been busy!!! everything on your post was very good and fun to look at. i have to say i'm a bit partial to those sweet little hearts with the new stitch. very nice!
You've been having lots of fun!! Love your hearts, and kudos with the bullion stitch--that's one I haven't mastered, yet.
Could one of those hearts be heading my way?!?!? I hope so!
Deb
Your new stitches are beautiful sweetie! I see you have gotten biten by the "face-bug" lol. They will start taking over your life...trust me! Have fun and an awesome weekend..big hugs Beth
I love all of your work but your faces are awesome! You have alot of talent and I look forward to your next post.
WOW!!!Just love your addition to the block. Your bullion stitch!!(sigh).I am not a great embroiderer, and mastering a new stitch takes me AGES!! Love those dolls too!!
Wow, Thank You all for such wonderful comments!! I appreciate them more than I can say :)
Carol - yes she's a tree, I think I am getting hooked on the tree dolls Lol
I haven't quite mastered that bullion stitch but there's a trick to keeping your tension "just so" as you pull off the needle and the thread through.
I also forgot to mention the BJP2011 piece is backed with pellon/peltex for a stiffer beading surface.
Thank you all so much again for your wonderful comments!
Hugs to you all,
Stacie
WOW, Stacie! You are incredibly prolific and now I need to take one thing at a time. I love your RR contribution, and the bullion stitches are quite admirable! I have a friend who actually took a class to learn that one, and she didn't make them into anything -- just one stitch at a time. Of course, I love your dolls, always love dolls and faces. The "tree doll" must have been hard to stuff! Congratulations for thinking ahead to being able to frame your BJP for this year. It's going to be fabulous with that fabric! Lovely work all around, I'll be watching for more!
The small size for your BJP installments is perfect! That's a gorgeous cloth you've chosen too :-)
Thanks for the mention in your blog post! I think you will really enjoy working on one large piece. I know I do. Mine is a bit larger at 14X14. I wish it was done so I could move on. I still havent started my 2011 page and keep changing my mind on what I want to do for this year. You certainly are a creative person. I love the wide variety of projects you do. Hugs, Tracey
How fabulous all of your pieces are! I just love the CQ and the dolls are wonderful!
Is the one sort of a tree shape? Or a hand? (I sort of see both shapes in her!).
Can't wait to see how they all turn out.
How do you do your faces? Do you have molds?
I purchased the faces I used last year, but I'd love to make my own.
Must be fun to participate in a CQ
RR, I love CQ, your heart are so beautiful. Thanks for nice comment and visit on my blog.

Stacie, your work is lovely. The work on the RR is great. Very neat stitches. Congratulations on the bullion stitch progress, I have only attempted it once. The hearts are lovely. VERY flattered that you used my cracker contents in your header. So very glad you enjoy them.
